Overview
This is one of the biggest epic rides in the region, and "Mr. Toad's" is likely the trail that made Tahoe world famous for mountain biking. Officially called Saxon
Creek Trail, it's a historic cattle ranching route turned technical mountain bike descent. Enjoy flowing turns, big rock moves, long contouring traverses, and a long climb above Lake Tahoe.
Description
There is nothing this route doesnt have. You'll spend the entire ascent glancing over your shoulder at huge views of the lake while basking in the dappled light of pine forests. An easy grade and soft trail surface make the climb a mellow affair. Once at the top, the section along the Tahoe Rim Trail provides a rolling ride among granite boulders and panoramas from the mountain crest.
Mr. Toad's/Saxon downhill begins at a natural summit and provides a non-stop, moderately technical descent full of rock rolls, flowing corners, smooth tread, and fast sections. This trail is long, only finding lower grades once it hits Armstrong
Connector at its base. From that point, it's a mellower descending trail back to the parking lot.
