Super cool spots to stop with kids and explore wetlands, tall grasses and many creepy crawly things that kids dig.
This is all on City of Cody property. Their rules apply.
Description
This was the first trail in the new Beck Lake Mountain Bike Park. It is a narrow hand-built trail. It is intended to be a kid friendly sampler of what you'll find in the outlying areas to the South. Yet, ridden at speed it's super fun with some berms and jumps with a mixture of super buff and rough bedrock.
Getting There
The entrance to Beck Lake Park is off of 14th Street. There are two main points of entry to this trail. The top entrance is immediately opposite the first fishing dock on the reservoir. The lower entrance is off the "Braille Trail", which is the paved trail through Lions Park. This is the most fun way to get to the extensive trail system to the southeast acros the canal. There is a third connector point this trail network that is in the southeast corner. None of these trails are yet signed.
The Description
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, you may want to watch a quick video at
youtu.be/m4pAMHO4QVQ.
This trail, in only 1.25 miles, takes you through just about every type of environ you'll find in the area, snaking through the damp turf of a Russian Olive grove, pounding over the desert soils, and rocking the sandstone bedrock. This handbuilt trail has a little of everything. I only wish it were longer!
