Description
Like the rest of the Art Roscoe Trail system, Leonard Run is a ski trail that is designated for mountain biking in summer. Although these trails are wide enough to run a groomer, by summer most sections have a singletrack worn down the middle, so they don't really have that two-track feel.
Leonard Run is the third of the three loops accessible from the Summmit Trailhead and arguably the most fun. It starts from the trunk trail where
Christian Hollow ends. It starts with a quick short downhill that levels off for a while. You'll see the cut-over from
Christian Hollow on your left merge in.
Soon, the downhill pitch increases and you'll descend for a while until you hit the park boundary, where the trail heads right along the contour and traverses the far end of the ridge.
After a relatively level section along the end of the ridge, it starts climbing again. Soon it makes a sharp right with the steepest (yet still rather easy) climb.
When you reach the top, the trail gives way to a nice rolling up and down section that is very pleasant. It ends all too soon on
Ridge Run.
