Part of this trail is on private property but there are no restrictions.
Description
Start at O'Shaughnessy Point and descend down the ridge of Monte Sano towards Dug Hill Road. The first portion of the descent is steep and rocky, and few people attempt this on bikes. Once past the intersection with the new
Bucca Trail (not to be confused with the
Family Bike Trail), the trail becomes easier. You'll pass a short connector over to the
Warrior Connector and the
Goat Trail before leaving Monte Sano State Park. The rest of the trail lies on private land and land owned by the Land Trust of North Alabama but all of it is open to members of SORBA due to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the landowners. The rest of the trail is a gentle descent until it ends.
The Warpath Ridge Trail ends with no warning, but you can either head towards the power line cuts and the
Flat Rock Trail (on the left) or take the Red Lizard Trail (on the right) towards Broad Armstrong Road. Both of these trails are unmarked. This trail is normally used to access the
Flat Rock Trail.
