This trail is a favorite of many park users.

It starts at intersection 15, with the lower Hunters Creek Trail, just in from where that trail crosses the Old Road Trail.

The first part is a roller coaster of short descents and climbs as it follows tributaries to a larger tributary. This section is typically referred to as upper Mirkwood because it is higher above the larger tributary, visible on your right.

The trail crosses the blue trail at intersection 19 and continues across the pipeline back into the woods. It follows this tributary up the creek until it crosses and starts following it downstream on the other (east) side. Intersection 20 is visible near the crossing - this is for an old faint trail heading across a swamp to the blue trail.

Mirkwood, now on the east side of the tributary crosses the pipeline and then begins a section that is one of the most flowy in the park. Located down near the creek level, the trail twists and turns, climbs and drops, in a wild combination of sections that is sure to bring a smile to your face.

It ends all too soon at Intersection 22 with the Old Road Trail.
