Description
Spider Woman II is an intermediate/difficult loop trail that can be ridden pleasurably in both directions. Note that the two entrances to Spider Woman II are about 0.25 miles apart and on either side of the top of
Midlands Mountain Trail. It is one of the best trails to ride in Harbison if you want to work on technical skills and also one of the most beautiful and remote feeling trails in the forest.
This is a challenging trail with several steep, narrow sections and some tight turns. The trail starts off up high at the top of
Midlands Mountain Trail and makes its way down to the creek and Broad River through a series of short, steep climbs and descents that take you up and over rocks and roots.
Going clockwise: about halfway through the trail (before you parallel the Broad River going clockwise) there is an optional "Inner Loop" trail that has a really tough, steep climb either way you choose to enter it. If you skip the inner loop, you'll begin to notice a lot of rocks and small boulders marking the ascent a long and technical rock garden with switchbacks. It is one of the most loved and defining features of the whole trail. After conquering the rock garden, be sure you stay on the singletrack trail which will keep you on the bluff side with the Broad River to your left. The rest of the trail will have some steep ups and downs before a short climb to meet up with
Midlands Mountain Trail.
This trail has some roots and rocks and It also includes a rock garden and views of the Broad River.
