Centennial
Overview
From an old Mining, Logging, and Ranching community, Centennial is a great place to recreate! Numerous trailheads lead to MTB and hiking trails for every ability level, and the town boasts several great food and drink establishments. Check out the Bear Tree, The Old Corral, The Mountain View, The Friendly Store, and the Trading Post for both before and after ride fuel. Live Music is also a staple on summer weekends. Lodging includes several of the eateries mentioned above as well as several nice campgrounds in the Medicine Bow National Forest, just up the hill from town.
Local Info
Corner Mt Trails and Camp Loops. Accessed from the Corner Mt Trailhead on Hwy 130, the Centennial Visitor Center via the Viz Trail, or hooked into from above via the Barber Lake Trail and Barber Lake Road. A nice network of trails in and around several campgrounds. Fun rolling sections and a few rocky tech spots can entertain advanced riders while not overloading beginner-intermediate riders.
Little Laramie Trails - trailhead on north side of Hwy 130 a mile or so above Corner Mt TH. Meadow, River, and Lodgepole Loops interconnect for some really fun riding. Use the Sand Lake Road as a pipeline to go back to the top of the system and catch multiple descents on several variations.
Barber Lake Trail - connects the Barber Lake Road just above Barber Lake, with the Green Rock Picnic Ground. pleasant to ascend for access to the Libby Creek Trail or a great loop to go up this and then over and down the North Fork Trail. Fun as a descent. Much of it is an extremely rocky old 2 track but its been used as a singletrack trail for decades now.
Libby Creek Trail - a beautiful loop segment to the south of the upper reaches of the Barber Lake Trail. Upper section stays on the rim of Libby Canyon then drops down onto Libby Creek. Listen for Libby Falls and take a break to check them out.
There's more! Also, daily use fee or an interagency pass are required for Corner Mt TH, Little Laramie TH, and Green Rock PG. Park at "The Viz" and ride a big loop up and down, or hit all of Corner, Camp, and Little Laramie trails in one decent ride....for free...then spend your money at one of Centennial's establishment.
Visiting Tips
Bring water for camping - the USFS currently has not activated any of the pumps in the campgrounds (which stinks...feel free to complain to the Laramie Ranger District Office).
