Steady ascent towards the south Cerro peak. The trail is wide but studded with rocks.
An ancient landslide has altered the north end of the Cerro. This section of trail (center of photo) will require most riders to walk and in a few spots carry their bikes
Once on the basalt the silt is gone but replaced with basalt baby heads in abundance. The trail is wide but rough in this area,
Example of fine and steep silty trail. Once up higher on the basalt the tread changes to basalt sand, gravel, and baby heads.
Trail skirts this escarpment. Below it the "bowl" area of El Cerro de Los Lunas Preserve.
