Cattle greet a mountain biker on the hike-a-bike section that takes up much of the first 0.7 miles (1.1 km) of the Robertson Pasture Trail.
This is the trailhead for both Robertson Pasture Trail (No. 020) and Spring Creek Trail (No. 159). After walking (carefully) over the green cattle guard, turn left and parallel the fence to reach Robertson Pasture Trail.
The upper part of the Robertson Pasture Trail descent alternates between spectacular views across Canyonlands National Park and dark forest sections reminiscient of British Columbia or California redwood groves.
Aspen leaves in the late fall.
