This Bench-Horse Trough connector trail goes through the first tee on the former golf course. The Ladies' tee (Suffrage Era) is the flat spot on the left, just outside earshot of Prohibition Era "meetings" by Pittsburgh's whiskey smugglers on the right.
Beautiful stone bridges aid your passage on the easier, bottom part of the trail.

Beautiful stone bridges aid your passage on the easier, bottom part of the trail.
Schenley Park is a truly beautiful place.
This is the split about 50 feet down from the entrance near Blue Slide Playground. Horse Trough begins on the left. Photo taken standing on lower Bench, which proceeds out to the right where the sign stands.
Clear shot of the old golf course fairway green (left) with the new growth of woods reclaiming its space and preventing invasive undergrowth (right).
This is the newly routed section above the former (until 1963) golf fairway, frequently damp during rainy seasons, because it was originally made to be flat.
Singletrack zig zags between the trees on an off-camber, rooty section next to the fairway. Can be slick at times.
