Steep climb up a drainage to start the ride. This section of trail can be hot in summer due to lack of trees/shade.
Rail trail traveling through old burn area.
Hundreds of deadfall trees blocking/obscuring/hiding the trail once you're more than 3.5 miles in from the southern trailhead. A true adventure ride if you continue past the 3.5-mile point.
Fall Colors on awesome Indian Summer day!
Top of the Lollipop Stick. Take a left for the clockwise direction, right for counter clockwise.
Note the sharp right turn if running counter clockwise on the loop - pup is coming back down little pirate trail for cutoff from backside. Not marked but well worn these days by folks not wanting to do the outer loop.
