Third berm in contour line section. This area is a popular deer habitat, so you'll want to be alert, especially if undergrowth is dense.
This is the first of several berms snaking down the hill to prevent erosion from fall lines and provide excellent traction in corners. Jay's shortcut trail (for park staff vehicle access) merges with this at the bottom of this particular trail for 50 ft.

This is the first of several berms snaking down the hill to prevent erosion from fall lines and provide excellent traction in corners. Jay's shortcut trail (for park staff vehicle access) merges with this at the bottom of this particular trail for 50 ft.
There are a number of speed controlling humps to mitigate water and prevent multi-user conflict. At just the right speed, you can avoid pedaling or braking before the next berm.
The start of Iron Gate
Steep and rooty entrance at the top serves as a filter feature, letting trail users know this is a technical trail. Expert level familiarity with equipment and bike handling is required to proceed.
Top trailhead is at the top of the dirt path above the gravel trail behind the baseball fields, near Blue Slide Park and the Park staff parking lot.
Back into the deer habitat, you'll want to keep your wits about as you pedal into the next berm.
