Description

The Bog Trail is a shortcut between the east and west sides of the South Plateau Loop at Monte Sano State Park. Starting on the east end at a 5-way intersection with the Family Bike Trail and the South Plateau Loop, it descends slightly down to the bog and the "Outdoor Classroom" with a number of nature exhibits and then climbs up a little to the Fire Tower Trail. This portion of the trail is easy.

After crossing the Fire Tower Trail, the Bog Trail descends over eroded sections and water bars towards the South Plateau Loop. Be careful not to pick up too much speed here, because you could wind up taking a nose dive off the bluff after crossing the South Plateau Loop!
