Description

Bear Paw leaves Broadmedow Road across from Acorn. It climbs from the start, gently at first, until it reaches the dirt road. After that, the climbing steepens and becomes more technical, several steep sections with exposed roots must be overcome. As the trail reaches its apex, there are several slabs of steep exposed rock.

After that the climbing is done, Bear Paw traverses the edge of a meadow, passes through a clump of trees followed by another meadow. Bear Paw then passes a pair of connector trails, one in the meadow, one in the woods. These trails link up to Backpacker.

After the second intersection, Bear Paw turns sharply south and downhill, ending at Pine Tree Loop by an old fireplace.

Reverse Direction:
The Bear Paw hill makes an equally good descent.

Climbing up Bear Paw from Pine Tree Loop is an excellent way to access Backpacker, The Shoot and the Bear Paw descent itself.
