Description
Deadman's Ridge is an unrelenting test of riding technical trails. While it's not 'stupid' technical, it will challenge your slow speed balance and pedaling endurance.
Deadman's is found on the southern end of the Bar M trails, connecting to
Lazy and
EZ to the north and
Long Branch and Bar-B to the south.
From the
Moab Canyon Paved Path, access to Deadman's Ridge starts on a doubletrack across from
Rusty Spur. Ride west, climbing a bit and winding around to the start of the trail which will be to your right.
The initial climb to get on the lower ridge is not steep and rolls along singletrack and slickrock. The route ramps up a bit from here, climbing steadily to a high point on the trail. It's worth taking a break here to enjoy the 360 degree views, including an incredible look into Arches National Park.
The route from here climbs and descends several times to the Bar-B intersection. The grades aren't steep but the trail is technical with lots of dancing up-and-over rocks. Stay right at the Bar-B intersection to continue on Deadman's.
After another down and up, Deadman's intersects Bar-B again. From here there's a rare smooth and flowy section descending to
Long Branch. Stay right to finish the trail with a steep descent to the
Moab Canyon Paved Path.
