The trail bumps up right against the border of Arches National Park, which does not allow bikes, so stay right on the trail.

Avoid riding in the dark potholes - even when dry there are living tadpoles and shrimp in there!

Description

Many of the trails in the this area can be confusing, and this is no exception. Save this trail to the MTB Project mobile app and plan to pull it out a few times! Despite being an ATV route, this is quite good, and an easier option good for lower intermediate riders.

Head up Long Valley road and look for signs saying "4x4 Alternate" going off to the right. There are two signs, and you'll want the second. There is no good trailhead sign here.

Look for white paint strips which are quite hard to see. You'll start heading right out on the slickrock, but then turn right and hug the edge of the slickrock where it meets the dirt. Keep an eye out for some posts marking the trail.

You'll get very close to the Sovereign singletrack here, and you can follow an unmarked trail to connect to it.

Bypass that, and you'll head left and back on slickrock with more clear white paint markings. Then ride back to the dirt road, which you'll climb up and down a bit until you intersect with Salt Wash trail. This could be a miserable hike-a-bike up to the Sovereign trail if you want to punish yourself.

But this trail continues on an easy dirt road, hugging slickrock up and down easy hills with awesome views of the La Sal mountains.

You'll end a the Pipline Road, where you'll probably turn around and retrace your steps.
