Fort Ord National Monument trails (and roads) are closed from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.

Description

This road starts at Jacks Road and climbs up Pilarcitos Ridge. The initial climb is fairly steep. Look for trails numbered in the 80's off both sides of this road. The best trail is 82 (left as you climb) which is a fun downhill but is used as a climb during the Sea Otter. Trails 81 and 83 are off to the left as you climb and end at overlooks with a bench.

The road dead ends but you can loop back on 84 and 80 or cut off to the left on 82 or 85 and head down the hill on 82. When coming down Pilarcitos Road toward the Paved Jacks Road watch the loose gravel on the turn.
