Description
Grout Bay trail is a mile long singletrack that you'll remember long after you've experienced it. It's smooth both ways, fast in some areas on the descent, and just a delightful little trail that is either the icing on the cake when descending from Hanna Flats loop, or a beautiful beginning to a great ride from highway 18 (North Shore). It's mostly hard packed with a few soft areas in the corners.
If you start your ride with this trail, you have two options once you finish the singletrack and hit the fireroad. The first option is to ride the Hanna Flats singletrack all the way to the campground, then doubleback. Just follow the fireroad down past the Gray's Peak trailhead (you'll see the sign) and find a singletrack on the right side a little ways up. Or, take the Gray's Peak trail for a 2.2 mile climb to the top of the mountain for a great view of the lake. Or better yet, do both.
This is a very popular place to hike and ride. So please be cool and share the dirt with everyone.
