Overview

Three trails make up this ride, connected by a tunnel that goes under Bell Rd. Upper Lakeside Trail is the first trail you encounter from the trailhead. The second trail is the Pinnacle Trail that you get to by way of a tunnel under Bell Rd. After you finish up Pinnacle Trail and head back under Bell Rd, you'll stay right to ride the Lower Lakeside Trail that brings you back to the parking lot at the trailhead.

Need to Know

It is recommended to dismount while passing through the tunnel that connects the trails. This is a multiple-use trail. Be considerate of hikers.

Description

Starting from the trailhead, you'll head onto the connector trail; stay right to begin the Upper Lakeside Trail. You can continue up the connector to merge onto the Upper Lakeside Trail about half way. Upper Lakeside Trail is a good introduction to what you'll encounter throughout this ride, short, punchy, technical climbs with short, technical downhills. Once you reach the Lakeside to Pinnacle Connector, dismounting is recommended as you pass through the tunnel to Pinnacle Trail. As you climb up to the start of Pinnacle Trail, stay right.

Pinnacle Trail starts out as a nice, open trail where you can let loose and have fun. This continues until you arrive at the closed Pinnacle Trailhead. Once you go along the open field, the trail becomes more technical with lots of rocky and rooted sections. Afterwards, the trail opens out again ebbing and flowing between technical uphills and downhills. You know you are close to the finish of Pinnacle Trail when the trail comes fairly close to some homes.

After riding the Lakeside to Pinnacle Connector back under Bell Rd., stay right to continue onto the Lower Lakeside Trail. This trail is similar to the Upper Lakeside Trail, except it has less punchy climbs and descents. Once you hit the connector to the trailhead, go right to return or left to connect to the Upper Lakeside Trail half-way mark.

History & Background

Both trails were built as one of the first official mountain bike trails in Nashville, in a cooperative effort by Mountain Trails Bicycle Club (which became SORBA Middle Tennessee) and Metro Parks.
