Top part (from Aquila trail north) is closed from Dec 1 to July 31. Bottom part of trail closed from Dec 1 to April 15. Watch out for hikers.

Description

The ~3 mile rocky and technical climb begins at the parking lot noted, and is quite steep in some places. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the views of Durango and the North Animas Valley. This Trail is generally climbed, but can be descended for a technical, challenging and fun descent.
