Description

Deer Park is a 2.5 mile, 1,200 foot steady 10% climb. It weaves in and out of the famous Dipsea Trail, which is not open to bicycles. As you climb, you move in and out of the edge of Muir Woods National Monument, including a few Redwood forested areas.

Near the top of the Deer Park Fire Road you have several options. Coastal View Trail drops off to the left. Coastal View is a 2.5 mile singletrack descent. The views of the coastline are amazing, but this area is very windy and foggy if the weather isn't right, so clear days are best. You can also climb a bit more and follow the rest of the road or the Lower Old Mine Trail to Pantoll Ranger Station, then continue on Old Stage Road to the West Point Inn and Mt. Tamalpais' Railroad Grade.
