Gonzo Trail leaves Hillside Trail at its high point and almost immediately begins dropping, carving sweeping turns through the woods before emptying into a long, flowing, fast field section before dropping again to the Pilgrim River.

From the low point on the Pilgrim it grinds part way back to the top, then drops fast again to a scenic bluff overlooking the river where it turns sharply left and climbs gently back up to intersection with Hillside at the outlet of Edwards Trail.
