Description
If you are looking for outrageous climbs, this trail is not the place. There's not any insane downhill nor any bomber drops, horrendous rock gardens nor any technical ledges. Nope, none of that nonsense.
Twilight Loop is a great XC ride through the desert with moderate climbs & descents through and around the rolling hills and washes off Hwy. 157 going to Mt. Charleston.
This is the trail the
Twilight Zone Ride was made from. It adds some uneventful slow climbing and extra mileage to the loop as it parallels up above Kyle Canyon Road for some measure. A great way to add more buck into your bang over riding
Twilight Zone trail.
Follow the trail that drops off the NW side of the parking area that flows around the foothills in front of you. Stay left until you come to the sharp right up the embankment. Once at the top turn sharp left and follow the trail west. The climb is slow & steady until you peak at the intersection of Lucky Strike Rd. Cross the road, the singletrack becomes difficult to follow at times through this stretch.
As you round the north side of the trail you encounter a watering hole down to your right, this is Grapevine Spring, a good place to take a break and scout around. From there follow the trail east as you round the mountain then south. At the cairned 4-way intersection turn left riding straight back to parking.
