Description

The Cranmore Trail links the top of the Cranmore Ski area to the Black Cap Trail. It provides access to the top of the Red Tail and Kettle Ridge Trail. There's good riding on this trail but it's more important as a link to other trails.

The trail starts just below top of the ski area (0.3 miles). It leaves the Cranmore summit access road on the right (East, unsigned) just before the large cell phone tower. It is definitely worth going to the top of Cranmore for the views before starting as the trail stays entirely in the woods.

There is a short, steep climb getting around the fenced cell tower area and onto the ridge that connects Cranmore to Black Cap. Just after, there is very steep gully drop that is often walked. After this difficult section, the trail mellows and alternates climbing and flatter sections. Trail surface is often rocky and rooty. The Kettle Ridge Trail leaves left shortly after the gully. The Red Tail Trail leaves left shortly before the Black Cap junction.
