Description
Hemlock leaves from the
Pitch Pine Trail approximately 0.3 miles from the Podunk Road and Campground Road intersection (start signed). The next 0.7 miles was almost entirely rebuilt in 2012. This section traverses above
Bear Brook on several long bench cuts with views down to the brook. It makes a couple rolling climbs and descents, then switchbacks down near the brook and crosses a small stream on a bridge. Awesome trail work and fun riding!
Hemlock climbs to an trail intersection. It stays left here and climbs moderately into a recently logged area which was thinned and open but still contains many large trees. It weaves through this area, hugging the top of the slope above
Bear Brook. This section, like most of Hemlock, is smooth and fast. Hemlock briefly leaves the logged area and drops to an old stone bridge, then climbs again through open fields and intersects Campground Road. The final section is doubletrack that mostly parallels Campground Road to the campground.
