A fun ride out onto a bluff with a nice overlook and a couple of short steep and rocky sections.

Fort Ord National Monument trails are closed from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.

Description

Heading west on Sandy Ridge Rd take a left on this trail. Watch for rutted sections and as you head out onto the bluff there is a short steep rutted climb that is a challenge to get up (on your bike) but has a nice view at the top. Coming off the bluff it gets sandy and drops down another short steep rocky section (rare here on Ft. Ord) and down into a rutted section followed by a sandy turn.

As you head along the side of the hill you'll run into another rocky section and that ends in a sandy turn and dumps you out onto Engineer Canyon Rd. From there you can cross the road and continue up the ridge on Trail 36.
