Heartbreak ridge leaves Pine Point Loop to the south, and rides along a narrow ridge, not much wider than the trail. On either side of the ridge there is swampy land, which may be flooded, possibly on one side, and not the other. The riding is somewhat rough, but nothing too technical, there are several spots which are quite steep.

After a bit there is an intersection with Tophet Loop West. It's a little confusing, but basically you want to take the rightmost trail to stay on Heart Break Ridge.

After a bit more riding, the trail heads into one of the nicest descents in Great Brook farm, with the end of the decent putting you out onto Tophet Loop West, almost at the end of that trail.
