The Noxubee Hills Trail System is in a multiuse National Forest area. During hunting seasons, primarily deer and turkey (spring), you should wear BLAZE ORANGE. All forest users are expected to wear blaze during hunting seasons. There are not a lot of hunters in this area but there are some. A blaze vest or shirt ensures your visibility. Rangers are emphatic that all trail users need to comply with this safety rule.
Description
Rockcrusher Road is a gated forest road that begins at Sheep Ranch Rd and goes 1.9 miles to Pigeon Roost Rd. The western end of
Sheep Ranch Trail is on Rockcrusher Rd as is the western end of
3 Bridges Trail. Lost Cemetery Rd and Rockcrusher Rd form a large intersection about one mile from
Sheep Ranch Trail. This road is wide and has a good packed gravel base. It runs mainly through pine forest and is mostly flat.
There are two significant hills one of which is on the 0.7 mile blue segment that leads to Pigeon Roost Rd. There is a scout camp with picnic tables on the east side of the road about midway. This is a primitive camp with no water source but it has flat areas for tents, fire pits and tables. Anyone is welcome to camp if it is not being used by the scouts. It makes a good spot to stop for lunch or a rest on longer rides or hikes.
