Family Friendly Genesis loop is very beginner friendly. Green Pastures is grassy paths near the parking lot. Playground and pavilion at parking area. Very family friendly urban park for nature exploration/education.

Avoid during wet/muddy conditions. Be cautious of other trail users.

Description

This is a short but sweet singletrack loop with a couple of connectors that can also be accessed from the adjacent Sangamon Valley Rail Trail. There are some nice bridges and the area is generally well-maintened.

The trail was developed by the Springfield Area Mountain Bike Association in the late 1990s early 2000s. CILTA now helps the board of trustees and other kind hearted volunteers to maintain. It is clearly surrounded by a residential area, and its proximity to the rail trail makes this popular for walkers, runners, and riders. Stay alert.
