Description
The west end of the trail is in Ketchum at the intersection of Sun Valley Road and Spruce Avenue (Near Iconoclast Books). Heading east, the paved trail passes the Ketchum Ranger Station, Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, and the Sun Valley pastures before coming to the intersection at Trail Creek Road and Saddle Rd./Dollar Rd.
At the Saddle Rd./Dollar Rd intersection the paved path intersects with the White Cloud Trails (
White Cloud Trails - Outer Loop). The Carol's Trailhead is just east of the intersection and across from the Sun Valley Lodge. After passing Carol's Trailhead and topping some short, rolling hills the paved path drops down to again parallel Sun Valley Road/Trail Creek Road. Shortly, the paved path crosses over Trail Creek Road, then continues east, passing the Sun Valley Club (golf and Nordic ski trail clubhouse) and the
Elk Trail before passing the Hemingway Memorial and the Sun Valley Company's Trail Creek Cabin (restaurant open in evenings).
The trail ends at a bench and the trail's intersection with Trail Creek Road (Note: Trail Creek Road and Sun Valley Road are synonymous. In Ketchum the road is called Sun Valley Road. East of the intersection of Saddle Rd/Dollar Rd (in Sun Valley) it is referred to as Trail Creek Road.
This paved route is very popular with all manner of people and pets enjoying strolls, walks, runs, and more. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.
Very easy riding that provides access from the town of Ketchum to great trails that are further out Trail Creek Road. Nice "ride from town" opportunities, especially if you continue out past the east end of the paved trail. You can ride the paved road to the end of the pavement and the start of a classic dirt road climb (Trail Creek Summit), or just use the paved road a short distance - hanging a right at the Boundry Trailhead to follow Boundry Trail to Corral Creek Trail. A great out and back. Lovely, lovely.
