Watch for the new "Preferred Parking" zones on and around Beverly Blvd. Open from sunrise to sunset only. Lots of hikers and bikers, with the occasional horse. No public bathrooms. Usually closed for 48 hours after a good rain.

Overview

This complex of trails and loops are tailor-made to put together in a ton of fun and interesting combinations. There's tree-covered singletrack; darting, hill-side singletrack; a fast, smooth, freeway-like stretch of pure speed, and plenty of drops and switchbacks. With the exception of 7th St Loop and Escalator the climbs are wide, easy fire roads.

Description

The most popular combination for weekend warriors at Turnull is to park along Beverly Blvd / Friends Ave, watching for the "Preferred Parking" zones. Take Rose Hills Fire Rd to the top, and past the rusted, graffiti-covered water tower. Then down the back-side, to the awesome drop of 7th St Loop. The tree-covered climb back to the top is a hidden SoCal gem, especially on those hot days. Climb back up to the rusted tower and take your last break before going down 3-B's. But be careful, it's like a freeway for hikers.

For extra credit, figure out ways to incorporate the other trails: Cow Trail, Rattlesnake, Escalator, Freeway, Tank Fire Rd.

Trails are in good shape. Double tracks are now single tracks due to overgrowth. Fire roads recently graded and smoothed. 12mi — 1h 45m

Starting to get hot. Trails are dusty and the plant life has browned. The Horse Trail Descent is the best part of the ride over here.
