Overview
This ride is an excellent beginner ride but also offers some of the areas best singletrack on Loop 3. It's the go to ride for a 1-1.5 hour ride from the airport trailhead in Lajitas. For a short beginner ride you can just do
Loop 2.
Description
Start out heading west on the south leg of
Loop 2 for a nice warm-up and downhill run across Jackrabbit Flats. Once you make the steep, sandy drop into the creek make sure to look to the left for the route out and up to the road.
Head to the right down the dirt road until you hit loop 1 and follow it to the left. You'll then intersect 1-B (the Dog Loop). Follow this fun and fast singletrack until you intersect
Loop 1 again and follow it to the right until you come back to the north leg of
Loop 2.
From here it's nice singletrack that starts with a short, steep climb and then ascends gradually back to the trailhead area. From there you cross the road and hit Loop 3 - a really fun, flowing loop that features lots of big smiles. It has lots of great short climbs and descents, half pipes, small ledges and great flow.
Usually ridden clockwise, you might have so much fun the first time around that you want to go ride it in the opposite direction.
