This trail provides challenging singletrack less than an hour from NYC. I rated this 'advanced' to be conservative. It's probably more intermediate/advanced. Single black diamond on the ski-scale. Anyway: One-way singletrack through mostly woods. The trail is blazed by white triangles and arrows at intersections. There aren't any huge drops but a good number of the downhills and uphills are certainly technical. Downhills and uphills mainly consist of going into and out of ravines.

A big feature of this trail is the half dozen or so downhills that are basically stairs created by timbers and fill. These can be quite intense going down; some have tight exits and others you can roller-coaster up the other side (relatively speaking). The terrain is basically hard-packed dirt with small stretches of sand and cobbles especially in the ravine bottoms. There are the usual assortment of roots and some potentially harmful-to-tires sapling stumps in the middle of the trail.

A bike club on Long Island (C.L.I.M.B. - Concerned Long Island Mt Bikers) created it. My hat's off to whoever can clean it. The rest of the park is rideable also - easy Jeep trails and singletrack abound. Also, check out more Long Island trails info on the C.L.I.M.B. web site. www.climbonline.org
