Overview
6WC is an April event held within the Warrior Creek area of Kerr Scott Trails. It is a "lap event," where several classes of solo and duo participants race against the clock to complete the most laps in six hours.
Need to Know
Each lap is approximately 13 miles...The total mileage on the map here is shy of that. Due to the speed that riders carry through the turns here, GPS with a wheel sensor does better to track mileage. Average lap times range between one hour and an hour/half.
A testament to the uniqueness and quality of the trails at W Kerr Scott, the event typically sells out in minutes. More information on the event can be found at
6hoursOfWarriorCreek.com.
When the rag drops, the first lap includes a 3 mi. prelude. This start course (not mapped here) includes a combination of pavement and doubletrack that funnels the field into singletrack.
Description
6WC includes the
Warrior Creek Loop and a portion the
OVT at Warrior Creek. These trails roller coaster-like...fast and fun with hundreds (yes hundreds) bermed and banked turns. Visit the MTB Project trail pages for a complete description.
The race course rolls in the counter-clockwise direction.
History & Background
6WC started in 2009 to celebrate the opening of the Warrior Creek trail system. 7 miles were built by volunteers to finish the trail before the inaugural event. Several reroutes have also taken place bringing the loop to what it is today. The entire Kerr Scott trail system was named an
IMBA Epic in 2011. Consult the Kerr Scott - IMBA Epic route for the full tour and more on the history of Kerr Scott trails.
