Dogs Off-leash

Most of the section east of the Long Distance junction is within the PRA that surrounds the parking lot, so dogs should be leashed there.

Description

This is the main access to & from the trails to the northwest of the trailhead and as such it's heavily used by both bikers and hikers. The first section, which climbs (at 9%) up to the Long Distance junction, is especially congested, so consider using Whitetail for the climb instead. When descending, give climbing riders the right of way and take it slow when passing hikers. If you're lucky enough (or patient enough to wait) and get a clear run down then it makes fantastic finish to any ride - just take it slow where visibility is reduced.

From the Long Distance junction, the trail winds gently around the south-facing hillside, drops down & crosses the old Telephone trail and finally climbs gently to the junction with Reconnect and Merlin View.
