Description
Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for beginner riders in the Triangle. Its central location is also great for relieving weekday stress if you work in
RTP. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park's gravel roads and Cary's
Black Creek Greenway.
This trail is super fast and during annual XC races here, winners are averaging nearly 15mph. That said, it is super popular for beginners, and gets more challenging the faster you go.
Navigating the trails is helped by frequent maps posted near intersections. There are some double tracks that connect different loops. There are six loops total (Loop 1 - Loop 6), the Lake trail, a pumptrack, and dirt jumps. The advanced jump line is only open during jump sessions. Beginner and intermediate jump lines are open anytime the trails are.
Loop 6 is the most advanced loop at the park and includes a cool gap jump, some rock gardens, and very rooty spots.
