Overview
This is a ride that covers just about all of the MetroParks Mountain Bike Area (MoMBA).
This facility features the areas first fully sustainable trail system designed to IMBA standards, specifically for mountain bike use. The area features great terrain and natural assets, including beautiful hardwoods, a rock-bottom creek, great hills and rock-filled ridge. Volunteers can help maintain this trail that provides over 8 miles of mountain biking opportunities for the most advanced to the novice rider.
Description
MoMBA has about 8.5 miles of singletrack dedicated to mountain bikers. There are beginner trails and more advanced trails as well. The area includes an open field, beautiful hardwoods, rock-bottom creeks, great hills and rock-filled ridge. The trails range from tight and twisty to open and fast. The signage system at MoMBA is top notch. Signs at junctions, waypoints to stay on track, and even marked evacuation routes.
History & Background
MoMBA used to be a hangout for dirt bikes before it was overgrown and made into a mountain bike facility. The
Hawk's Lair trail is in the pit that was used to create Huffman Dam, which is why there is so much gnarly rock and exposed ridge lines.
