Description

From the Bald Mountain Lookout, the trail is doubletrack (for ATVs) for the first 1.3 miles. At the third of three switchbacks, 1.3 miles from the lookout, continue on Tr 228 straight (while the doubetrack will switchback to your left). The trail crosses a road 1.8 miles in, and is generally well signed.

View south from the Bald Mountain fire lookout (5300'), the high point of the tour. The lookout itself is usually closed, but one can climb the stairs to gain nice views.
