Description

The Toad Alley singletrack is located in the Cucumber Preserve and the Breckenridge Nordic Center. The uphill end of the trail is located directly across from the Peaks Trail trailhead on Ski Hill Road (County Road 3). The lower end of the trail can be accessed from the Nordic Center off of either the Shock Hill or Gold Digger trail.

The trail begins on a mellow gradient along the east side of the Cucumber Creek wetlands before entering the forest. Once in the forest, the trail gets a bit rooty, climbing gradually to a flume, and eventually crossing a boardwalk bridge. At the end of the bridge there is a sharp right through a drainage. The trail winds north over technical roots and bridges before reaching a fork. Go left at the fork (right is closed to bikes) climbing a short distance past the gondola overhead. The trail levels off briefly, then climbs again to Ski Hill Road and the Peaks Trail.

Toad Alley is a decent option in the Shock Hill area featuring fairly rooty singletrack in the lush forests of Cucumber Gulch. 1.2mi — 0h 08m
