Description

Underlying trail for the Dog Lake Ride. Actual Dog Lake Trail connecting Big Water to Dog Lake. Starts at the intersection with Wasatch Crest.

Dog Lake is one of those mountain bike rides that locals with a mountain bike have done at least once, because the trail is perfect, smooth, buffed-out singletrack that ascends on a low angle as it winds through gorgeous pine groves and aspen trees until it ends at a cute, little mountain lake nestled into the Wasatch Crest.

The Dog Lake ride covers this 1.6 mile segment (this is the actual Dog Lake trail). This is the final upper section.

It connects the Big Water, Little Water, Great Western (Wasatch Crest) trails to Dog Lake.

After climbing for a little while you'll come to the intersection of Little Water and two choices for continuing to Dog Lake. On the left is a 0.3 mile climb that has a very mellow ascent. On the right is a 0.2 mile climb that is somewhat more technical and somewhat steeper.

We recommend you go on the shallow 0.3 climb. Most folks climb on the 0.3 mile left fork and descend on the 0.2 mile right fork.
