Description

American Gulch Road (signed GH 93) is an historic Mining Road in the eastern end of the Golden Horseshoe. It is a steep, sometimes loose and extremely enjoyable mining road.

The trail can be accessed from the top of Humbug Hill at the east end of Lincoln Park Road, or from Georgia Pass Road (South Fork Swan Road) from Tiger Road.

As a descent, the trail features banking switchbacks and huge drainage bar rollers. It is a mixed-use roadway open to any motorized use, and frequented by dirt bikes.

The difficulty rating is based upon the climbing, not descending attributes of the trail.

American Gulch Road can be an excellent riding choice when other area trails are wet. Some rainfall actually improves the quality of this descent, as the underlying soil is shaley and can be loose when dry.

As a climb; a means to an end. Rapidly clocks up the vertical feet. Would be pretty dope on a Moto.
