Description
Chimney Gulch is a trail that connects Golden to the top of Lookout Mountain, offering a steep but mostly moderate route with some unexpected technical sections. Riders should be aware that after heavy spring rains, there may be washed-out sections along the trail. It is advised to exercise caution or consider opting for other trails during such times.
Additionally, it's important to note that recent trail maintenance and rebuilding efforts may have altered the natural turns and technical sections. As a result, certain areas may now present new challenges due to the manipulation of the trail's natural features. Riders should be prepared for these changes and approach them with caution.
When ridden as an uphill, the trail provides a challenging 1100-foot climb, making it a great workout. It also serves as a convenient access point to the top of
Apex Trail.
For those driving to the trailhead, parking is available on the south side of Hwy 6. Alternatively, there is a tunnel under the highway located a short distance west of the trailhead (approximately a couple hundred meters) for those riding to or from the other side of the highway.
