Description
This trail is contiguous with the
Mutton Hollow Trail and was originally built as an extension of that trail. And what an extension it is. This is one of the signature trail segments in the Ellicottville trail network. It is usually ridden starting from the end of Anderon Blvd (a grass logging road) that is also the end of
Rocky's Run. This allows for a great flowing long descent before you pay it all back with a climb up
Porcupine.
Start at the end of
Rocky's Run, which has been built so that it runs right into Buzzards' Breath. This trail was named after families of turkey vultures that nested in the rocks near the start of the trail.
One builder mentioned he could smell them.
The smiles start right away as the trail drops before you with a series of flowing turns. Soon, it enters a technical section built on a steep sidehill since Andeson Blvd (again, just a grass logging road) already took the easy line. When things get easier again, you'll be where the
Mutton Hollow Trail begins.
