Overview
This loop hits many of the main trails from timber mile, octomom, working on turns, the down and up, roots,
General Tso Chicken Loop, and
Ghost. The trails are not particularly technical although there are is a spot or two that makes it an intermediate loop. The first mile or two is great for beginners.
Need to Know
You park behind a public school so be mindful of the school hours, etc. There is also a bike shop nearby.
Description
It's hard to take a wrong turn in this loop if you stick with the most heavily used trails at the intersections. That being said, there are a number of trails that intersect this loop that could screw you up. However, Robinson is a small park and the worst that could happen is you end up in someones backyard and have to turn around.
There are a few major ravines in the park which the loop bisects twice - pay attention to these as they are good reference points should you get lost. Having a way to tell east from west is also helpful as the route is oriented in this direction.
The soil is generally sandy with a sparse number of roots for New England. Additionally, Robinson stays snow free for probably 9 months a year as it's low in a valley.
History & Background
A very nice state park with some huge oak trees.
