Overview

This is a good intermediate loop that encompasses four of the Cooper's Gap Highlights. One is rewarded with 5 miles of flowing downhill singletrack after the initial climb.

Need to Know

Best during mid to late summer through fall and winter.

Description

Leave the park and head west on Broad Mtn Rd, which becomes Black Lick Rd, for an easy two mile warm up. Next, you'll turn right and begin climbing Wallace Trail for 3 miles up to Seeger Rd. Wallace Trail will intersect with Upper Telephone Trail.

Once up on Seeger Rd., you are essentially done climbing for the day as you begin the return to the park. Follow Seeger Rd. for 3 miles until just past the intersection with Kettle Rd, and turn left onto Bigelow Trail.

Turn right off of Bigelow Trail on to Pig Pile Trail. Once you pass under the gas line, turning right and walking/riding to the summit of the ridge will give you a great view of Big Valley before resuming your down hill journey on Pig Pile Trail.

Upon exiting Pig Pile Trail on to Barrville Rd, turn right and continue the down hill trend before drifting off to the right and down onto Old Lewistown Pike. Old Lewistown Pike will then drop you out onto Rag Hollow Rd. Turn left on Rag Hollow Rd for a short spin to Rte 305. Turn right on Rte 305 and head back to the park.

Wallace trail was VERY overgrown for most of the upper half, felt like I was bushwhacking my own path through the woods.
