Overview
A dedicated singletrack bike trail in Jubilee Park, this short circuit offers easy riding and a good introduction to mountain biking. The ride is suitable for kids and absolute beginners. A few climbs and descents will challenge newbies, but these sections are short and can be walked easily.
Need to Know
Follow the marked mountain bike trail and avoid the walking paths - which are usually clearly marked.
Description
From the carpark, the trail begins just to the north. A sign shows the route, which makes an oddly-shaped figure-8 through the park and is marked along the way. The trail rolls through forest over easy terrain and crosses a few boardwalks early on. At the mid-point of the figure-8 the marked route climbs somewhat obscurely up through a meadow. This is a steep climb for beginners, and leads to the playing fields in the park.
The route follows the margin of the fields past the jubilee monument and around to the tennis club buildings, where the trail drops back into the forest. On the way back there are a few steep descents and curves that will give beginners pause, and provide a bit of fun for others.
