Description

This is one of the best local trails that the Coeur d' Alene area has to offer. It is a beautiful singletrack that is fast and smooth rolling. The trail itself is hard packed dirt with a mixture of light sand in places. It consist's of a few switchbacks and a few small creek crossings. This trail is a great climb and rewards you with good views of the valley floor, Lake Pend Oreille and surrounding mountain ranges.

Bernard Peak Trail (#37) offers a continual, consistent climb all the way to the top. When riding down the trail, it offers a really fast downhill experience. The trail is built with really long traversing sections so you can pick up lots of speed. it weaves from side to side and has a few little rises to get some air. You'll be smiling ear to ear on this one!

You access the trail through Stimpson Lumber Company Land. The lower trailhead is approximately 2.2 miles from the Stimpson Parking Lot. Stimpson's Land is predominately non-maintained logging roads with some of them turning into narrow doubletrack.

Overall the Bernard Peak Trail experience is one of the funnest trails in North Idaho that is close to town. Enjoy!
