Description

Waterfall cut off trail is one of the only non-motorized singletrack trails in the area of cement creek that is somewhat hard to stumble upon or find unless you're specifically looking for it.

Start by riding up Walrod Gulch Road or Warm Springs Trail 406 then take Walrod Gulch Trail 412 up to 405.2B. After a short uphill through the forest on 405.2B you'll ride into a meadow and find yourself soon at a trail junction. There is a sign and an apparent trail point to your left for the continuation of 405.2B, but don't turn left here. Straight ahead there will be a faint trail through the grass and 100 yards down this trail will be a forest service sign for Waterfall Cut Off. The sign is deliberately placed 100 yards or so off the main junction to discourage motor bikes from trying to ride this trail since it's non-motorized.

Enjoy the ups and downs on this trail and some of the great views as Crested Butte Mountain Bike Club has done some recent work on this trail. The trail can be narrow at times as it traverses some of the steep slopes so pay attention! Near the end, you'll cross a stream and see another forest service sign for Waterfall Cut Off in the gully where the trail will seemingly end. Climb out of the gully and look for The Waterfall Creek trail maybe 20 yards to the east.

Rode Walrod Cutoff to Waterfall Cutoff for a fantastic loop, especially Walrod for the flowers! 17.4mi
