The South Fork Rim trail intersects with several other trails closed to biking, including the Golden Grass and Blueberry Hollow trails. Signage can be confusing so it is advised to take a map and familiarize yourself with the trail system prior to riding. Chugach State Park periodically patrols and issues tickets to bikers violating trail closures.

Description

The trail can be accessed from the Prospect Heights trailhead using the Prospect Heights Connector trail or the Powerline Pass trail. The trail climbs gradually for approximately 600 feet from bottom to top.

Make a loop in winter by using the Powerline Pass and Middle Fork trails. Overall, this trail can be fun, flowing, and fast, but is also popular with hikers, skiers, moose, and bears.

Bear bells or using your voice when approaching blind corners is recommended.

This trail was updated by park crews in 2019 to flowing single to doubletrack trails.
