Description

As with all the trails at Rocky Knob, the further up the mountain you go, the more technical the trails get; rock gardens become longer and more pronounced in both climbing and descending sections. In general there is more loose rock everywhere. This trail is rated the same as Middle Earth but actually tougher because of these reasons (and the grunt factor).

Boat Rock climbs 250 feet in the first 1.3 miles. There is a bailout at this point that reduces this loop to 2.5 miles total. Boat Rock's encouraged direction for MTB is clockwise, starting after a short descent from the "Saddle" on Middle Earth. There are several wooden bridges on this trail that cross boulderfields and wet areas. The rest of the rocky areas don't have bridges. Follow this trail to the top to reach the 'Ol Hoss Trail, which skirts the summit of the mountain.
